WHAT TO DO IF THE BATHROOM LOOKS UNTIDY EVEN AFTER A GENERAL CLEANING?

You put everything in its place, even hid the detergents in a bucket in the corner, but the clutter doesn’t seem to diminish. In this article, you will learn how to organize your bathroom space and remove annoying visual noise.

SHELVES AND DRAWERS

Often, the area of the bathroom simply does not allow placing a cabinet for detergents or cosmetics. But there is always a way out. If you were going to hang a mirror over a washbasin – pay attention to cabinets with a mirrored door. They don’t differ much in price from mirrors of the same size. You can find cabinets with a height of three to four shelves with several compartments, each behind a separate door, and one-piece organizers almost in full growth. Behind such a mirror, you can hide cosmetics, creams, toothbrushes, and cleansers.

Shampoos, shower gels, and a washcloth will look much better on a hanging shelf above the bathtub than on the side. Choose shelves with a grated bottom to avoid water build-up. If you use a shower stall, take a closer look at the corner shelves, which save space. It is better to fill the space in height than in width.

Hanging shelves without doors will visually expand the space and look great. They are easy to make yourself using thick jute rope and a couple of boards.

You can also resort to more original solutions: hang a wicker basket on the wall that matches the design of your bathroom. These makeshift drawers can be used to store towels and sponges. This will not only save space in the bathroom but also beautify the room.

Use fabric organizers stretched over a lightweight frame. They can be left on the surface, for example, on a washing machine, and even behind a cabinet door, this storage method will avoid clutter on the shelves.

HANGING ORGANIZERS

But it is not necessary to hang all the walls with bulky shelves. Use magnetic tape attached to the wall to store small metal items like scissors, tweezers, and other manicure supplies. This is a good solution to the problem of missing shelf space.

For small items or washcloths, fabric organizers with many pockets are perfect: they will look great even on the bathroom door and will not take up much space.

Explore the internet for unusual designs that fit your interior and your needs. Wide-necked glass jars make excellent storage containers when tied together with tape or cloth. This will clean up your combs and brushes.

HOOKS

Perhaps the most compact option. If you have a large family, towels and bathrobes will take up much less space on hooks than on shelves or wide holders.

Another advantage of this solution is design variability. You can choose metal hooks with transparent hook&loop fasteners backs or a wooden panel with multiple hooks so they look right in any bathroom.

In case the space above the bathroom is very limited, or unnecessary objects in plain sight just bother you, use a hanging shelf. It is enough to attach a couple of hooks above the bathroom and hide the removable shelf in the cabinet after use. Installing and removing it will take a couple of minutes before taking a bath, but shampoos and shower gels will not catch your eye.

Hooks are perfect for storing a hairdryer, ironing, and other medium-sized equipment: they usually have a plastic loop. This frees up shelf space and keeps your styler or straightener close at hand.

HOLDERS AND THEIR VARIETIES

If you need to place a lot of different-sized items, towels, cream, and so on, use hanging holders with a shelf. They come in up to three compartments in height, and hooks for clothes or elongated towel holders are attached at the bottom. The disadvantage of this option is that a lot of different objects will be concentrated in one place. If they are all matched in a common color scheme or in the same style, it will look good, but if you are the owner of brightly colored towels, then the holder will turn into a motley spot on the wall.

Use specialized holders for cosmetics and brushes: they look like several glasses of different heights, sometimes with additional compartments. This option is for those who have a lot of cosmetics and gadgets, as it will help keep them in order. Only massive palettes are unlikely to fit into narrow compartments.

HIDDEN SOLUTIONS

The above are examples of outdoor space organization, but there are many options that will allow you to hide your personal care items out of sight. For example, you can attach an office vertical paper holder to a cabinet door. A comb, a cleaning sponge, or detergents will go into it. This is a great way to save space in the closet, if, of course, the depth of the shelves allows.

Even inside the lockers, it is advisable to keep order.  And organizers will help us with this. This will allow each shelf to be divided into additional sectors, each of which will store only a certain type of item.

In many apartments, the space under the bathroom remains empty, although it is a great place to store cleaning supplies. If the tub is against a wall, a rim-to-floor panel transforms the void into a functional compartment where you can hide your mop and detergents.

IMPORTANT LITTLE THINGS

When the outside space is organized, it’s time to pay attention to detail and get rid of visual noise. Throw away the plastic soap dish, replace the colorful toothbrush cup with a transparent one (or paint with a spray can in a color that matches your bathroom interior). Get a toothpaste holder if your goal is not only to save space but also to furnish everything in a uniform visual style. It is advisable to pour the liquid soap into a dispenser. For ear sticks and cotton pads, you can also use glasses or separate containers to avoid the abundance of multi-colored cellophane packaging all over the place. If you often use cotton pads, get a special vertical holder: this way you will not only save space in the bathroom, but also spend less time than taking out pads from a soft pack.

For shampoos and shower gels, you can purchase a set of neutral dispensers and bottles with inscriptions, so the shelf with bathroom accessories will look more harmonious. If you do not have dispensers, it is often enough to simply remove the labels from the products: they are often glued to a white or transparent bottle. Use a baking soda / vegetable oil mixture, alcohol, or nail polish remover to remove any glue residue.

FULL ORDER!

It is not necessary to use all the tips at once and fill all the walls with a variety of baskets, shelves, and drawers. There is a set of solutions for the peculiarities of each bathroom, the main thing for visual order is the absence of bright color spots and a large accumulation of objects that, even in perfect order, will look sloppy. Combine various tricks, and if a shelf that suits you is not in the store, make your own according to some of the DIY guides. Experiment – and you can create a unique design that suits you!
